35. Denver, Colorado

Dates: June 3-5, 2022

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I took all 3 to get to downtown Denver. The train from the Denver Airport to downtown was pretty slick. Easy to navigate and quick to deliver. It beat sitting in traffic!

I stayed with Cousin Peter for the weekend who showed me all Denver has to offer now. In all the years I’ve visited, I hadn’t gone downtown. Turns out that’s because it wasn’t until recent that it’s revitalized and actually safe. There are a ton of areas with restaurants, bars, and entertainment in renovated buildings. I’m impressed. Not impressed enough to deal with winter. But enough to want to visit again.

The Mayan Theatre is worth dropping by to see. The detail on every wall is impeccable.

Green Juice

Peter is what one would call "healthy." For breakfast, he juiced a bunch of green stuff and lemons. I was surprised that it didn't taste bad at all. I'm not about to buy a juicer by any means. But I wouldn't turn my nose up if someone did the dirty work.

Hiking the Rockies (err kinda)

So it's more the foothills than actual mountain. The hike starts at a brewery (no complaint there) so you really feel like you worked for it when you get back down.

Pictured: more cousins. Specifically, Natalie and her brood! Yep, the cousin Natalie from the stacked chairs adventure.

A Night Out

Pictured left to right: Natalie, me, and Amanda (call her if you need a house in Denver), a wine I'd like to meet again, and a culinary display I've never seen in person before.

Someone else has the whole group shot! It was Aunt Jody and Uncle Gary's 45th Anniversary. As high school sweethearts, they're still grossing us out with their PDA. (haha)

The Church

Saint Francis De Sales Church. It was Pentecost Sunday! We’ve been celebrating Easter (the Resurrection of Jesus) for 50 days now. This is the day the Holy Spirit descended on the Disciples through tongues of fire. In the Catholic church, it’s the day many who are joining the church will be confirmed which means receiving the Holy Spirit into their lives.

Would I visit the area again?

With so much family here, I don't have an option to say no.

Would I live here?

Nope. Way too many people and I don't like cold winters.

Enthusiasm level: 8.

It was a nice visit. Ready to see what the summer will hold.

Here’s to a healthy, happy family,

Megan “Not A Juicer” Giles

Placeholder for a fun shirt design to commemorate the trip.

Unedited by another. Typos are on the house.
