The National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes

This is a replica of the grotto Our Lady appeared in at Lourdes, France. This apparition is right up there with Fatima. Although I don’t know much about it. Yet.

The grounds not only had a replica of the grotto, but also a rosary, walking path with beautiful mosaics of each mystery, a statue of our Lady of Fatima and the children, this very interesting statue of the holy family with Saint Joseph, watching over our Blessed mother and baby Jesus, and mother Teresa. The gold covered statue of our Lady shined brightly against the cloudy skies that day!

Just down the road is the shrine of St Elizabeth Ann Seaton, the first American born saint.

I made it here in time for confession and afternoon mass but was pretty exhausted and still had an hour and a half drive to go so I skipped the tour . Next time!

And travel notes for the future: I can only handle one shrine per day. 😆
