Idaho and Oregon

Driving into Idaho felt familiar. There’s lots of farmland. The biggest difference are the mountains in the distance!

The Board Meeting

Last fall I was invited to join a group of ladies who also have their own online marketing businesses. We operate as a sort of Board of Directors for one another. We can talk through ideas and struggles. And celebrate successes!

Amy Shelton is my go to copywriter for all things marketing. She has a way with word’s especially on websites!

Heather Jensen helps therapists with their marketing from website to sales funnel. And she owns a dance studio!

Heather lives in Boise and Amy flew in from Kentucky. We kicked it off with a hike to Jump Creek and couchside charcuterie. It's so fun to be WITH people in real life again talking business and dreaming up the next thing.

Neither Amy nor I had been to Oregon so we motored over to the boarder for a photo opp. The unique city hall of Adrian, OR caught our attention!

I’ve been to Cabela's plenty of times. It’s neat with all the stuffed animals. Scheels sporting good store is a whole other level though. There’s a Ferris wheel in the middle of the store!

Caldwell, Idaho is a suburb of Boise and doing a great job of revamping downtown including the old train station. And cuts stores. I tried a new look. It’s not going to be my thing despite how comfortable it is to wear PJs all day. There’s a bandstand with a splash pad and a beautiful creek and bridge.

We took a detour when taking Amy back to the airport. She’s learning to fly and I love history so the Warhawk Air Museum was a no brainer.

I wish we had more time! We got a quick overview of the 2 hangers full of planes and memorabilia from so many soldiers throughout all the wars since WWI.

I can quickly get lost in the individual stories. Each box is labeled with a code to look up the full story on their app.

The coolest display was the 6 or so 8 foot long tables full of binders of letters and stories. This letter got me choked up because it's so relatable. It’s so easy to forget that real people gave their lives for all these freedoms I enjoy.

And this one was interesting… a wedding dress made out of a Japanese silk parachute from WWII. The yellow label on the photo tells the story.

Smoke Signals

The whole week in Idaho had been hazy and we could smell smoke every morning. The locals weren't phased though. It's the norm.

After dropping Amy at the airport, I take off for northwest Oregon. Or so was the plan. Wildfires rerouted me a few times. With the interstate shut down I decided to head west instead of north. It was a pretty drive once I got away from smoke!

Bend, OR was my final destination in the reroute. Sadly, it was close to more fires. See the progression of smoke in the air?

I didn’t have a reservation here and it took me 3 hotels to find something. God is good. He had a plan.

The boutique hotel I stayed in was a lovely spot and I made friends with some other guests over the fire pit. (Safely lit of course.) They may be moving to Texas soon so I had lots of suggestions on areas to checkout and Realtors to recommend.

By the next morning, smoke had cleared up and I was able to take a quick jog along the river front. See the guys doing their morning cold plunge?

It was a pleasant drive through Mt Hood National Park. See the town established date? They’re baby towns here compared to the east!

I came out of the forest into Hood River, OR on the Columbia River. It was a bright and breezy day for the kite surfers. Of course the photo doesn't do it justice. You'll have to zoom in to see all of them on the water.

Crossing over the state line for the next adventure...
